Remote consultancy is faster to schedule and cheaper to deliver, and for most of an ISO implementation it makes no practical difference at all. Available anywhere in the UK.
Why remote works
Most of an ISO implementation is documentation. Drafting procedures, building registers, reviewing evidence, preparing a Statement of Applicability, working through a gap analysis, coaching someone through their first audit report. None of that improves by being in a room.
It also removes travel from the price, which for a client in Cornwall or the Highlands can be a substantial part of an onsite quote and buys nothing.
The scheduling advantage is bigger than people expect. Two hours next Tuesday morning is easy to arrange. A full day on site needs both parties to clear a diary, and that is how projects slip by weeks. Shorter, more frequent sessions also suit implementation better, because the work between sessions is where the system actually gets built.
How it runs
Video calls, shared online implementation checklists so both sides are looking at one live version rather than emailing drafts, and secure file sharing. We work in whatever you already use, whether that is Teams, SharePoint, Google Drive or something else.
Documents come to you in editable Microsoft Office or Google formats, so you keep control of your own system.
Where onsite still earns its keep
We would rather tell you this than sell you a remote package that produces a weaker system.
- The initial gap analysis, if you have physical operations. Walking a workshop or a warehouse tells you things a call cannot.
- Health and safety risk assessment. ISO 45001 work means looking at real tasks in real conditions, and an assessor will spot a risk assessment written by someone who never saw the job.
- Environmental aspects where there is a physical footprint: drainage, storage, spill routes, waste streams.
- A sceptical team. That is a people problem, and presence helps.
For most businesses the sensible shape is onsite at the start, remote through the build. Typically two or three onsite days across a project rather than eight or ten, at the same outcome.
Where fully remote is fine
Professional services, software, consultancies, finance and most office-based ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 work. If your risk sits in information and process rather than physical activity, an onsite visit adds little.
The one requirement is an engaged internal contact who can do agreed work between sessions. Onsite delivery carries a passive client further, because the consultant is there and things get done. If nobody internally can own it, remote will feel slower.
